Friday produced a clean 5-0 card across MLB and the English Premier League. BrownBagBets is now 15-5 across its last 20 positions and the standardized August bankroll sits at approximately 138%, its highest point of the month. Today the portfolio expands again. Six NCAAF positions enter the live research environment, each at only 1%, alongside one EPL position and two MLB positions.

Today Is a Different Evidence Environment
College football joins the active portfolio today. BrownBagBets has historical college sports evidence, but 2026 itself begins with no current-season sample.
That uncertainty is expressed through allocation. Six NCAAF positions qualify. Every one receives exactly 1%.

Both programs enter with meaningful offensive transition, while North Carolina brings greater quarterback and system continuity. The game is also being played in Dublin, where rain is expected around kickoff.
The captured 48 is particularly important because the market has subsequently moved several points lower. This position is partly a football thesis and partly a price thesis.
Week 0 introduces major uncertainty around new personnel, coordinator implementation and offensive efficiency. Current totals below the captured 48 reinforce why the original number matters.
San Jose State at USC
USC possesses enough talent and continuity to create an extreme scoring ceiling. The Over requires San Jose State either to contribute or for USC to approach a dominant offensive output on its own.
This wager is positively correlated with the USC spread position below. The two 1% wagers represent 2% nominal capital but should not be interpreted as two completely independent theses.
San Jose State at USC
USC enters with the major talent, depth and trench advantage against a San Jose State roster facing meaningful turnover. A dominant game script creates multiple paths toward separation.
NC State at Virginia
Returning quarterback CJ Bailey gives NC State a continuity advantage entering an opener where uncertainty is otherwise high. The captured six points also provides additional protection relative to markets sitting closer to 5.5.
Roster Continuity & Readiness remains explicitly against the position rather than being removed from the analysis.
Jacksonville State at North Dakota State
The position is primarily a market and institutional-quality thesis: North Dakota State's program continuity, home environment and long-established line play create the foundation for its first FBS game.
QB & System Stability remains insufficient evidence. It is intentionally not forced into the stack. Jacksonville State returns meaningful quarterback experience, while NDSU is replacing key offensive personnel.
Hawai'i at Stanford
Hawai'i enters with stronger recent program performance and beat Stanford in last season's Week 0 matchup. The six points provide meaningful protection in a market currently trading closer to Stanford -3.5 to -5.5.
The -140 cost is substantial. The wager depends heavily on the value of possessing +6 rather than simply asserting Hawai'i is the better team.
English Premier League
EPL Remains in Candidate Discovery.
Bournemouth vs Everton
EPL remains in candidate-discovery mode. Goal Environment, Two-Way Scoring Propensity and Defensive Vulnerability are preserved as recurring themes rather than prematurely promoted into formal indicators.
Everton enters in strong early defensive form, while recent head-to-head history does not consistently produce both teams scoring and three-plus goals. The +225 price reflects the uncertainty and keeps the position at 1%.
Major League Baseball
The Most Mature Evidence Environment Gets the Largest Positions.
Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals
The Under is supported by workload and removal-risk considerations, matchup fit and market behavior. It is not supported by Alcantara's current pitching condition. That distinction is important.
Alcantara has completed seven innings in three of his last five starts and six in the other two. His current form is therefore the clearest argument against our position and remains explicitly visible.
Starting Pitcher Current Condition. This is not a fade of Alcantara's form. His excellent second-half pitching is the strongest evidence working against the wager.
Texas Rangers at Milwaukee Brewers
Cal Quantrill enters with a 0.72 August ERA and has allowed only one run in his last 18 innings. That current pitching condition creates the primary baseball mechanism.
The second mechanism is price. Texas is facing an excellent Milwaukee team but the captured +150 provides a 40% break-even threshold before sportsbook hold, creating asymmetry when paired with Quantrill's current form.
Milwaukee is 84-51, 46-24 at home and playing excellent baseball. This is a price-backed underdog position, not an argument that Texas owns the stronger complete profile.
