New York Mets at Cleveland Guardians

New York sold aggressively at the trade deadline, leaving its bullpen notably weaker. The Mets also moved outfielder Tyrone Taylor following a productive stretch that began in early July. The resulting loss of depth, combined with the club operating under an interim manager, supports Cleveland at home.
Chicago White Sox at Boston Red Sox
Boston enters the series having won 23 of its last 26 games since July 3. That stretch includes a three game sweep of the White Sox in Chicago.
Chicago has won four of its last five games, but Davis Martin has been considerably less effective away from Rate Field. The White Sox have lost each of his last five road starts, and his road ERA is nearly two runs higher. Boston is also 4 and 0 in Patrick Sandoval’s starts this season.
Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves
Atlanta enters the matchup on a five game winning streak. Miami recently traded its primary catcher, Liam Hicks, to Tampa Bay after he produced a .282 batting average, 14 home runs, and 62 runs batted in.
Miami will start Ryan Gusto, who carries a 6.23 road ERA across 17.1 innings. Atlanta’s current form, combined with Miami’s roster loss and Gusto’s road performance, supports the Braves at home.
Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers
Henderson has cleared this total in five of nine starts despite facing an unusually difficult group of contact oriented opponents. Only two of the nine teams he faced ranked in the bottom half of the league in strikeout rate at the time.
Pittsburgh owns the fifth highest strikeout rate against right handed pitching this season. Over the last two weeks, the Pirates have posted a 25.8% strikeout rate with a .667 OPS. They have also struggled against power pitchers, producing a 30% strikeout rate in those matchups. Henderson’s changeup provides a credible path to seven or more strikeouts.
