September 5, 2026 Daily Card: 6–3 Pulls the Bankroll Back to 99%
6–3 Friday. The Bankroll Is Back to 99%.
Friday's largest card of September produced the strongest night of the month.
BrownBagBets finished 6–3 across nine positions,
including a perfect 4–0 MLB card and a 2–3 result in
NCAA Football.
The September bankroll moves from 94% to
99%.
Five points were recovered in one night.
But today's response is not to press harder.
It is to shrink the portfolio from nine positions to three.
MLB was perfect. College football was not. The portfolio still moved five points.
Friday provides another useful example of why BrownBagBets evaluates individual sports, individual theses and the complete portfolio separately. MLB finished 4–0 while NCAA Football finished 2–3. Together, those results were strong enough to move the standardized bankroll from 94% back to 99%.
Two thirds of Friday's nine approved positions converted.
Baseball delivered a perfect night across four separate positions.
College football remained mixed despite the strength of the overall card.
Friday's 6–3 result does not make Saturday's positions better bets. The bankroll improved. The evidence threshold did not change. The next slate is evaluated independently, which is why today's card contracts rather than expanding after a strong night.
94% to 99% without chasing. Now 21% becomes 4%.
Thursday closed with the bankroll at 94%.
Friday did not attempt to manufacture a specific recovery target.
The available research happened to produce nine positions.
Those positions went 6–3 and returned five bankroll points.
Saturday presents a completely different board.
Only three positions currently receive permission.
Volume follows opportunity. Opportunity does not follow yesterday's result.
Nine positions across NCAA Football and MLB.
Just three approved positions across the current board.
A dramatic reduction in participation immediately after a 6–3 night.
Three positions. Two sports. 4% total allocation.
Today's board is deliberately small. Two 1% NCAA Football spreads make up half the card. The only MLB position receives 2%. No position exceeds 2% despite Friday's strong performance.
Nebraska −23.5
Nebraska receives a limited 1% position laying 23.5 points at home.
The allocation itself is part of the position. This is a substantial college football spread, and BrownBagBets is not treating the favorite designation as permission for a larger wager.
The market receives participation, not maximum conviction. At 1%, the portfolio can express the Nebraska side while respecting the uncertainty inherent in asking a favorite to create a four score margin.
Marshall +25
Marshall receives the other 1% college football allocation as a substantial road underdog at Penn State.
The wager does not ask Marshall to win the game. It asks whether 25 points creates enough protection for a road underdog facing one of the stronger teams on Saturday's board.
As with Nebraska, the allocation is intentionally restrained. BrownBagBets is participating in the spread without pretending a large underdog position carries certainty simply because the number is large.
Colorado Rockies ML
Colorado is today's only MLB position and the only wager above 1%.
At +110, BrownBagBets is being paid plus money to back the home side rather than laying a premium. That changes the relationship between required win probability and payoff.
The 2% allocation makes this the strongest position on today's small card, but it remains well below the 3% ceiling used on higher conviction positions earlier in the week.
A 4–0 MLB Friday does not create an automatic reason to manufacture more baseball bets on Saturday. The current board produces one approved MLB position. So one is what the portfolio gets.
A winning night should not make the next card bigger.
Friday could easily create the wrong behavioral response.
A 6–3 night.
A perfect MLB card.
Five bankroll points recovered.
Suddenly the temptation is to see opportunity everywhere.
BrownBagBets is designed to resist exactly that.
Today's 4% allocation is less than one fifth of Friday's 21%.
The goal is not constant action. The goal is disciplined participation when the evidence creates enough value to justify risk. Winning does not require the next wager. Research does.
99% is live. Three positions earned capital.
The bankroll has nearly returned to its September opening level after falling to 94%. That recovery happened without abandoning the same allocation discipline used when the portfolio was losing. Saturday now starts with a much smaller slate and exactly the same standard.
