September 13, 2026 Daily Card: 108%. Now Comes NFL Sunday.

BrownBagBets Daily Card · Sunday, September 13, 2026

108%. Now Comes NFL Sunday.

There are days in a betting month when the scoreboard does more than move. It creates separation.

Saturday was one of them.

BrownBagBets finished 10-4 across the board: 7-3 in NCAA Football, 2-0 in MLB and 1-1 in the Premier League. The September bankroll moved from 100% to 108% in a single day.

After eleven days spent moving above and below our standardized starting capital, September has now broken meaningfully into positive territory. That matters. The previous seven completed monthly cycles all finished profitable. But yesterday does not entitle this month to become the eighth.

The next decision still has to earn its own permission.

Which makes the timing fitting. Today is the first full NFL Sunday of the 2026 season. Nine NFL positions have survived the work. One Manchester Derby total joins them. And despite going 2-0 in baseball yesterday, MLB has produced nothing for us as of 10:00 AM ET.

A 10-4 Saturday does not make Sunday's standards lower. If anything, it gives us more reason to protect them.

Seven profitable completed cycles came before this one. Saturday gave September the kind of separation that has appeared during those successful months before. The responsibility now is not to protect 108% by becoming afraid to participate—and certainly not to behave as though the month has already been won. It is to continue making the next decision independently.
Saturday Closeout

A big card. A big result. And more information.

Saturday was the other side of BrownBagBets selectivity. A week earlier, the college football board produced very little. Yesterday the research kept producing qualified positions. We did not fight the volume simply because the number became large.

Overall 10-4
NCAA Football 7-3
MLB 2-0
EPL 1-1
The Portfolio Result

The bankroll moved from 100% to 108%. That is the financial result that ultimately matters to the monthly portfolio. The 10-4 record describes what happened across tickets. Allocation and price determine what those results did to capital.

NCAAF Decision Review · First Feedback Loop

The 6-3 was good. What it taught us may be better.

Nine of Saturday's NCAA positions were part of a specific experiment. We took externally sourced handicapping ideas, reconstructed the legitimate football mechanisms inside them, and asked whether BrownBagBets NCAAF SCAN should be capable of independently discovering the same information.

Those nine cases finished 6-3. That is encouraging. It is also far too small a sample to prove anything. The useful work begins when we separate the result from what was actually knowable beforehand.

Mechanism · Duke

Opponent interaction transferred.

Duke's emerging rushing strength met the Illinois vulnerability we had identified. Duke did more than cover +6—it won 31-27. The game also reached 58 points, cashing the related Over. Those are two winning expressions, but not two fully independent ideas: both shared part of the same causal tree.

Process · North Texas

The scoreboard had hidden something.

The prior UNLV result looked better than the defensive process beneath it. Hawaii had repeatedly moved the football before failing to finish possessions. North Texas then won 44-6. That does not prove Result vs. Process Decomposition works, but it is a striking example of why SCAN now requires it.

Current State · ASU / Texas A&M

The new quarterback mattered more than 70 points.

The useful Week 1 evidence was not simply that Arizona State had scored 70. It was that a new quarterback may have materially raised the functional ceiling of the passing game. Texas A&M participated, the game produced 68 points, and the Higher case survived.

Game Shape · Iowa / Iowa State

History corroborated. It did not create.

Seven of nine historical Unders was not the mechanism. Quarterback turnover, continuity loss and offensive uncertainty created the compressed-game thesis. The teams combined for 29. Historical rivalry data was supporting evidence—not permission.

Audit · Oregon

Historical identity can expire.

Oregon lost outright, 39-31. The case leaned heavily on what Oklahoma State had been and on last year's 69-3 result. But Oklahoma State entered with a different coach, quarterback and offensive environment. This becomes a false-positive review for stale identity anchoring.

Audit · Syracuse

Modifiers can masquerade as a mechanism.

Travel, quarterback return, Cal's rushing defense and expected Syracuse improvement all sounded useful. But several useful observations do not automatically combine into one strong causal case. This is exactly what the qualification sentence is designed to expose.

Audit · Navy

Last year's matchup is not today's mechanism.

Prior meetings and last season's 397 Navy rushing yards were descriptive. The missing question was whether the current FAU defense remained structurally vulnerable to the current Navy rushing operation. Navy lost 38-30. Historical matchup evidence now receives a harder transfer test.

Process Control

Winning does not rewrite evidence quality.

Duke +6 and Tennessee -11 both won. That does not make them retrospectively identical handicaps. Duke was the cleaner opponent-interaction mechanism. Tennessee was the more conditional pressure/current-state case. The tickets settled the same way. The pregame evidence did not.

Permanent SCAN Addition · Evidence Transfer Test

Why should this evidence transfer into today's opponent and today's version of the team?

Duke ran effectively last week. Why should that matter against Illinois? Because Illinois showed a corresponding vulnerability.

Navy ran for 397 against FAU last year. Why should that transfer to today's personnel and today's Navy offense? If we cannot establish the connection, it remains historical context.

Oregon destroyed Oklahoma State last year. Why should that result transfer through a new coach, quarterback and offensive structure? Very little without current evidence.

Outcome settles the wager. It does not retroactively determine the quality of the decision.

Nothing qualified.

BrownBagBets went 2-0 in baseball yesterday. That creates exactly zero permission to manufacture a baseball position today. There is a full MLB board available and, as of publication, our work has not produced a wager. Yesterday's success does not create today's permission. If later information changes the board, the card can change with it.

English Premier League

Manchester Derby. We want the scoring environment.

2% · EPL Total

Manchester City at Manchester United Over 2.5

Manchester City at Manchester United
Locked At -179

Manchester United's early defensive environment has been difficult to trust. A 5-2 win over Ipswich and a 2-2 draw with Everton have already shown how quickly their matches can become open.

The important part is that United also possesses enough attacking talent to contribute. Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes provide multiple pathways.

Manchester City supplies the other half of the equation. Erling Haaland remains the obvious focal point, while City has already participated in several high-scoring matches.

BrownBagBets prefers the game environment rather than requiring either Manchester side to control the derby. Both teams possess credible scoring pathways, while United's defensive profile creates the possibility that three goals is a relatively modest requirement.

NFL · First Full Sunday

Nine positions. Not nine versions of the same argument.

The NFL card is built around specific interactions: pressure against protection, personnel changes, passing-function degradation, game-shape changes and offensive sustainability.

The allocation tells another part of the story. A 3% position is not a 1% position simply because both appear on the card.

2% · Pressure vs. Protection

Houston Texans +2

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans
Locked At -120

Houston's defensive front provides the clearest matchup interaction in this game. Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter give the Texans a way to alter Buffalo's passing operation without requiring exotic pressure.

Josh Allen is unusually equipped to mitigate that advantage through mobility, quick distribution and Buffalo's running game. That is the strongest contradiction.

The reason to back Houston is that we are getting points with the team possessing the most identifiable matchup mechanism in the game: a repeatable way to force Buffalo away from its preferred passing structure and create negative plays.

Pressure vs. Protection Defensive Front Underdog Expression 2% Allocation
1% · Passing Function

Pittsburgh Steelers -6

Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers
Locked At -111

Atlanta's quarterback situation materially changes the matchup. Cooper Rush is being asked to start on the road after the Falcons lost their preferred options.

That becomes more consequential because Atlanta also enters with protection disruption. Pittsburgh therefore has a credible pathway to force Rush into obvious and uncomfortable passing situations.

Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts can reduce the quarterback burden, so this is not simply a backup-quarterback fade.

The case is the interaction between degraded Atlanta passing function and a Pittsburgh defense specifically equipped to make that degradation consequential.

2% · Pressure Access

New York Giants +3

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
Locked At -111

Dallas enters without Tyler Smith and will ask T.J. Bass to replace him against the strongest area of the Giants defense.

That creates a specific pressure access point rather than requiring a vague belief that New York's defensive front will simply be good.

Dallas has prepared Bass for the assignment, while Dak Prescott can mitigate pressure through protection adjustments and quicker distribution. The contradiction is real.

At a full field goal, New York becomes interesting because its best defensive capability directly intersects with a meaningful change in Dallas' protection structure.

Pressure Access Protection Change Full +3 2% Allocation
1% · Conditional Mechanism

Baltimore Ravens -2.5

Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts
Locked At -130

Baltimore's rushing operation is the potential mechanism. It can create efficient early-down offense, control possession and reduce the number of obvious passing situations.

But there is an important limitation: we have not identified the corresponding current Indianapolis run-defense vulnerability as cleanly as we would want.

That distinction matters. “Baltimore runs extremely well” describes a team strength. A complete matchup mechanism requires evidence explaining why that strength should transfer particularly well against today's opponent.

This remained WATCH rather than TRACK through the Sunday morning SCAN. The 1% allocation reflects that evidentiary distinction rather than pretending every published wager has identical support.

Miami Dolphins +3

Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders
Locked At -110

Brock Bowers being out materially changes the Raiders' passing structure because Las Vegas loses a uniquely difficult matchup piece rather than ordinary tight-end production.

Michael Mayer can absorb snaps and targets. Replacing Bowers' ability to stress coverage and create explosive opportunities is a different question.

Miami's secondary uncertainty is the contradiction. Bowers' absence by itself does not establish Raiders passing dysfunction.

The Miami case depends on whether removing Bowers narrows what Las Vegas can do offensively enough for the Dolphins defense to exploit it rather than merely causing the football to be redistributed.

3% · Pressure vs. Protection

Minnesota Vikings -1

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
Locked At -110

Minnesota's pressure and disguise structure creates a legitimate pressure-versus-protection pathway, particularly with Green Bay carrying uncertainty along its offensive line.

The question is not simply whether Aaron Banks or another lineman appears on an injury report. It is what Green Bay's actual five-man protection unit looks like and whether Minnesota has a specific weakness to attack.

Jordan Love is capable of punishing pressure and preventing Brian Flores from simply dictating the game through aggression.

Minnesota becomes compelling if Green Bay enters materially compromised up front, putting one of the Vikings' defining defensive capabilities directly against a weakened part of the Packers offense.

Tampa Bay at Cincinnati Under 50.5

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Cincinnati Bengals
Locked At -110

The useful part of this case is not recent playoff history or Baker Mayfield's Week 1 record. It is the possibility that Cincinnati's defense is materially different from the unit reflected in its recent reputation.

Adding Dexter Lawrence and other defensive personnel creates a credible pathway to suppress Tampa Bay's scoring efficiency, while the Buccaneers enter without their complete offensive personnel group.

Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are the obvious danger. Cincinnati can threaten a high total even if its improved defense performs well.

The Under works if Cincinnati's defensive regime change meaningfully suppresses Tampa Bay's contribution and prevents the Buccaneers from supplying the second half of the scoring required to clear 50.5.

1% · Protection Interaction

Chicago Bears -2

Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers
Locked At -122

Chicago gets a favorable opportunity against a Carolina offense carrying protection questions, while the Panthers defense has also lost Patrick Jones II from its front.

The more interesting interaction may be Carolina's offense. If its protection cannot consistently give Bryce Young time, Chicago has a pathway to disrupt possessions and create the separation required to cover a short number.

Carolina's running game is the strongest counter. It can keep Young out of difficult situations, shorten the game and reduce Chicago's opportunities.

The Bears case is strongest if Chicago can exploit Carolina's protection while its own offense encounters enough resistance-free possessions to turn that advantage into more than a field-goal game.

Protection Interaction Passing Disruption Short Favorite 1% Allocation
2% · Offensive Sustainability

Detroit Lions -6.5

New Orleans Saints at Detroit Lions
Locked At -125

Detroit has multiple credible ways to sustain and finish drives at home. New Orleans must demonstrate that it can score often enough to prevent those possessions from becoming separation.

Cameron Jordan's absence makes that challenge more difficult for the Saints defense, while Detroit's offensive personnel gives Jared Goff several ways to play around pressure or an individual protection weakness.

New Orleans can attack Detroit's secondary. This wager therefore does not require the Lions defense to dominate. It requires enough stops for Detroit's superior offensive sustainability to matter.

At -6.5 rather than -7, the case is that Detroit possesses the stronger repeatable scoring process and a credible mechanism for turning that difference into a two-score game.

Buy to the Published Number

Where a spread or total has moved, BrownBagBets generally prefers preserving the published threshold when the sportsbook allows the necessary point purchase at a reasonable additional price. The cost still matters. A good wager at one number is not automatically a good wager at every number.

Movement after entry is also information. We record it because the market's eventual price can help us evaluate whether our original read found value independently of the final result.
