September 11, 2026 Daily Card: Remember First. Then the Card.
Before today's card, we remember.
Twenty five years ago today, 2,977 people were killed in the attacks
of September 11, 2001.
We remember those lives, the families who continue to carry their loss,
the first responders who ran toward danger, and the ordinary people who
responded to an unimaginable day with courage, compassion and service.
Some days deserve a moment before everything else.
The Board Got Smaller. So Did We.
Thursday finished 3-3.
The day's largest 4% position converted, and the total portfolio return
finished essentially even.
The September bankroll therefore remains at
97%.
Today brings only three positions.
One NCAA Football total and two MLB moneylines.
Just 5% total allocation.
That is not a lack of opportunity.
That is the process deciding how much opportunity actually deserves capital.
3-3. Largest play wins. Bankroll stays flat.
Six Thursday positions split evenly.
But the most heavily allocated position on the card,
the 4% Yankees -1.5 wager,
converted.
The net result was essentially zero movement in the portfolio,
leaving the standardized September bankroll at 97%.
Half the wagers won and half lost.
The largest opinion on the board converted.
The September bankroll remains at 97%.
A win loss record describes how many tickets won. It does not describe how the portfolio performed. BrownBagBets publishes wager percentages because capital allocation is part of every decision. Thursday's result is a clean example of why.
Three positions. Two sports. 5% total allocation.
Friday's board contracts substantially from Thursday.
NCAA Football contributes one 1% total.
MLB contributes two 2% moneylines.
No 3% position. No 4% position. No reason to create one.
Missouri at Kansas Over 51.5
Friday night's Border War creates a potential scoring environment built around two different offensive pathways.
Missouri has an opportunity to get the Austin Simmons led passing game moving against the Kansas secondary.
Kansas also enters a significant home rivalry spot in an important season for Lance Leipold's program. BrownBagBets expects the Jayhawks to contribute rather than simply asking Missouri to carry the total.
Last year's meeting finished 42-31 and included multiple momentum swings and three second half lead changes.
The prior result is context rather than a prediction that the same script repeats. The more important question is whether both offenses create enough successful possessions for the game to again become open.
The thesis is game shape. The expression is Over 51.5. The early season uncertainty keeps the allocation at 1%.
Chicago Cubs ML
This is one of the more unusual schedule environments in baseball.
Chicago was off Thursday and hosts a Friday afternoon game at Wrigley. Pittsburgh played Thursday night before turning around for the matinee.
The travel itself is minimal because the Pirates finished their previous series against the White Sox in Chicago. BrownBagBets therefore does not overstate that component.
But the rest differential and scheduling rhythm remain meaningful, particularly when combined with Chicago's current standings motivation.
Pittsburgh also no longer presents the expected Braxton Ashcraft starting pitching problem.
The Cubs continue to pursue the top Wild Card position, and Friday concentrates several favorable situational elements on the home side.
The situational advantages are unusually concentrated on Chicago. Baseball variance still exists.
Washington Nationals ML
Cade Cavalli provides the foundation of Friday's second MLB position.
Since the All Star break, Washington is 5-0 at home in Cavalli starts. Across the larger home sample, Cavalli owns a 6-2 record.
Friday also presents a favorable opponent environment against an Angels team sitting at the bottom of the American League.
Cavalli is operating without an innings cap, allowing Washington to lean on him if his performance warrants it.
The Nationals enter on a seven game losing streak. BrownBagBets is not treating that as a reason a win is somehow due. Instead, the position asks whether Cavalli's home profile and the opponent matchup create a better current probability than the -145 market implies.
Yesterday had six. Today has three. Nothing needs fixing.
Thursday offered NFL, Champions League and MLB opportunities.
Six positions survived.
Friday offers another large sports environment.
Three positions survive.
The number of bets is not a performance target.
BrownBagBets can produce substantial volume when multiple independent
indicators identify value across the board.
It can also produce three wagers on a Friday.
The system is allowed to say there is less to do today.
That flexibility is part of responsible bankroll management, not a
limitation of the research process.
97% is live. Three positions earn Friday.
One college football total.
Two baseball sides.
Five percent of the standardized bankroll in play.
The board is smaller today.
The standard is exactly the same.
