The record split. The allocation mattered.
Tuesday finished 3–3.
The NHL positions split 1–1.
The Champions League positions split 2–2.
But the wagers were not weighted equally.
The smaller allocations absorbed losses.
The larger allocations produced wins.
Actual cash moved slightly forward while the standardized bankroll remained essentially unchanged at
97%.
That is why BrownBagBets tracks more than wins and losses.
Every position counts once in the record.
They do not all carry the same amount of capital.
A betting record counts tickets. A portfolio measures capital.
A 3–3 day sounds perfectly even.
It may not be.
BrownBagBets assigns capital only after a position has been researched,
priced,
challenged
and qualified.
That means different decisions can carry different weights.
A one percent win and a three percent win both count as one victory in the record.
Those same decisions can contribute very differently to the bankroll because their approved allocations are different.
Three winners. Three losers. Not six equal decisions.
Five positions. Five games. Ten percent.
Five games does not mean five unrelated risks.
Three favorites representing sixty percent of today's capital.
Two scoring Overs built around current usage and offensive role.
Every position sits inside a separate event.
The largest position has to earn the largest burden.
Arsenal -1.5
Arsenal brings the materially stronger overall team profile against a Slavia side still searching for its first Champions League victory.
Being the superior team is not enough. Arsenal must convert the advantage into a victory by at least two goals.
Arsenal carries attacking personnel concerns and this is still a road match in European competition.
At 3%, this is today's largest capital decision and therefore the position whose conviction calibration matters most.
Two more favorites. Two very different wagers.
Borussia Dortmund -0.5
Dortmund's Champions League home record and sustained success against Spanish visitors create the foundational home advantage.
Betis enters in excellent European form and has demonstrated enough quality away from home to make this a genuine matchup rather than a routine favorite.
The recorded -115 is one of the stronger executions on today's board relative to where the market subsequently traded.
Manchester City -1
Manchester City's attacking ceiling and Leipzig's struggles against elite European opposition create a clear route to separation.
Leipzig's home profile has been dramatically stronger than its road profile. The ugly defeats that created this thesis did not occur in today's environment.
The -1 handicap provides push protection on a one-goal City victory, but the recorded price is closer to ordinary market value than a captured bargain.
Four percent built around usage.
Ajay Mitchell Over 18.5 Points
Mitchell's offensive role has expanded with his move into the starting group, producing substantially greater shot and free throw volume.
He scored 20 against Cleveland two nights ago and has reached at least 20 points in three of his last four games.
Cleveland now gets an immediate second look at him, while 18.5 sits above his full-season scoring average.
The wager is based on current role expansion rather than assuming his season-long average has permanently changed.
Deni Avdija Over 23.5 Points
Portland's current availability keeps Avdija in a high-volume offensive role against a vulnerable Phoenix defense.
Recent scoring has repeatedly landed in the mid-to-high twenties, including consecutive strong performances without Ja Morant.
The market has adjusted. A 23.5 threshold now sits almost exactly on top of Avdija's early-season scoring baseline.
The matchup and role support the Over, but -125 leaves less margin for error than cheaper versions of the same threshold.
The portfolio is making a statement before any game begins.
Today's largest expression of evidence and conviction.
Manchester City, Ajay Mitchell and Deni Avdija.
Participation with deliberately smaller capital commitment.
New here? The wager is the last step.
BrownBagBets studies evidence, contradictions, price, correlation and capital allocation before a position receives permission. The Daily Card shows the final portfolio. Pattern Literacy explains the system underneath it.
Allocation is a hypothesis too.
We usually talk about the hypothesis inside the wager.
Arsenal is better than Slavia.
Dortmund's home advantage transfers.
Mitchell's usage remains elevated.
But assigning three percent instead of one percent creates another hypothesis:
that the evidence deserves more capital.
Yesterday gave us another observation about that question.
Today gives us five more.
13–13 is recorded. 97% is live.
Five new positions now enter the register.
Six percent Champions League.
Four percent NBA.
No same-game concentration.
No recovery target.
No obligation for the bankroll to move anywhere today.
